Why I Don't Like The Boston Celtics☘️
Like many of us, I started out as a fan of the Chicago Bulls, so my initial introduction to NBA fandom was through being a Michael Jordan fan.
To give you a little context, my first non-generic sneakers were Jordans, actually “SKY” Jordans. My feet were so small at the time that they didn’t have Air Jordans in my size.
As I got older and Jordan retired, I was a man without a team, lost in a wasteland of NBA stars. I hopped from player to player (in platonic fashion-get ur mind out of the gutter fam.) - Iverson, Vince Carter, and then Kobe Bryant came along. Kobe's presence gave me some Jordanesque consistency, but again, I couldn’t bring myself to root for the Lakers.
As a native New Yorker, I tried my best to support New York basketball teams, but if you’re reading this, you know being a New York basketball fan is hard for the NBA. I rooted for the Knicks when they went to the finals one year; that was fun, but it never really brought me the joy that I received when the Bulls won six titles.
Then, as a native Brooklynite, when the Nets came over to Brooklyn, I knew that I would be a Nets fan. I tried that for a few years until the implosion of the James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving experiment blew up in our faces. Right then, I decided that I would never be loyal to a team again.
Since then, I’ve rooted for various teams, specifically young teams, searching for that perfect match.
Now, when it comes to the Boston Celtics, there are very few teams in the league that I would never root for, but the Celtics are one of them.
YOU GOTTA HEAR THIS CELTICS STORY👇
I like Jaylen Brown - he’s a hard-nosed, old-school NBA player who gives 100% effort on both ends of the floor. I also have a lot of love for Jayson Tatum, although I think at times he is a little overrated.
My hatred for the Boston Celtics is not about the current players; it’s a historical hatred, one that I can’t really put into words. It’s almost in my DNA, in my veins. It’s in my blood. It really stems from being a New Yorker and watching the Patriots win championship after championship, and my New York Giants eventually becoming the Patriots killers and beating them in two Super Bowls.

And to be honest…the Celtics just have too many dag-gone championships. I mean spread the wealth pal. They don’t need another one. So for me, this year I really like the Mavs. I’ve always loved Luka, but the arrival of Kyrie is really giving me a newfound interest in seeing what they can do legacy-wise.
So for these 2024 NBA FINALS, I’m taking Mavs in six.
