Mock Draft Edition: Winning From the 12-Spot!
Welcome to another edition of BLEAV in Fantasy Basketball! Your go-to spot for championship-level fantasy hoops advice, electric draft room vibes, and a little bit of real talk about what actually works. Today’s recap breaks down my latest 12-team Points League mock draft, full of value bombs, player debates, wild slides, and the relentless hunt for that all-important prize money.
The Opening: Predictable, Then Spicy
Like clockwork, the 2025-26 fantasy hoops season starts with Jokic at one, Wemby at two, SGA at three, Giannis at four, and Luka at five. “I am not Miss Cleo the clairvoyant and I can’t tell the future,” but if you’re playing along at home, you probably would’ve guessed those first five as well.
Here’s where it gets interesting: I had the number 12 pick, which, in my humble (but deeply experienced) opinion, is one of the best slots. Why? That back-to-back action. It feels like a discount, even if those long waits between picks have you sweating.
My Picks: Chasing Stability & Upside
First swing: Karl-Anthony Towns. The big man may be sliding in some mocks, but as far as I’m concerned, if he falls to you in points leagues, don’t overthink it. Next? James Harden. Sure, we all understand the age and drama factors, but in the second round for points leagues? I’m all in.
Honorable mentions in that first cluster: Cade Cunningham at six (love it!), and Sabonis at ten (a points-league staple), while Paolo Banchero starts inching into the late-first, early-second.

Value Bombs, Debates & Who’s Climbing
Tyrese Maxey, Kevin Durant, and Steph Curry coming off the board in the mid-to-late second is outright disrespect. Value bombs everywhere.
Jaylen Johnson, who often flies in the second, dropped to the third. Take advantage if the draft room sleeps!
Amen “Pray to Heaven” Thompson went a little early, but believe in your guy if that’s your strategy.
Donovan Mitchell is tumbling after being a perennial second-rounder. Will he rise again? Personally, if he’s getting the minutes, this might be a steal.
Live Action & Community Vibes
Throughout the draft, the BLEAV squad kept the chat tight (and hilarious). From Jalen Johnson's struggles with staying healthy to Cade vs. Ant debates, everyone brought their takes. One favorite: “Luka is going to cook, and if you haven’t seen Skinny Luka on Men’s Health, you’re not paying attention.”
I also finally did it: grabbed Zion Williamson. Injuries are always a risk, but if he stays healthy, watch out.
Late rounds? Jalen Duren for rebounding upside, Jimmy “$100 cup of coffee” Butler as a risky value play, and a few wild rookie and sleeper shots like Alex Sarr and Grady Dick. Swing for upside late…always.
The Ritual: Goat Rating & Honest Self-Reflection
We close every draft recap the way it should be: with the infamous 1-to-5 goat rating. Towns, Harden, LaMelo, Beal, Sarr, and some legit upside plays, but this build has more maybes than usual. I reached a few and maybe zigged when I should’ve zagged.
Final score: 2 out of 5 goats. If Zion and the young shooters hit, we break even or better. If not, it’s back to the film room next week.
Closing Thoughts
Here’s the truth: you want to win your league, you need a plan, guts, and a community that keeps it 100. Hit up the free BLEAV Discord to join more mocks, ask questions, and be part of the movement.
