Now or Never: Streaming Targets-NBA Fantasy Basketball Playoffs
Must add players to help you win the chip!
We’ve only got a few weeks left in the regular season, which means a few more weeks of streaming targets. Most of my championships are this week, but most leagues should at least be starting their postseason this week. If not, that means you’re going through the actual final day of the regular season. All I can say on that is good luck. The tanking and resting have been incredibly frustrating (dealing with a Shai Gilgeous-Alexander rest night in a dynasty league isn’t ideal), but the only thing we can do is shift our focus to the waiver wire.
If you’re looking to maximize your games over the final few days of this matchup, you have to look to Charlotte. They’re the only team in the league that plays three times between Thursday and Sunday. The teams to avoid are Dallas, Memphis, Minnesota, Orlando and Phoenix, since they only play once during the same stretch. It was already the dreaded two-game week for the Mavericks and Magic, which really limits the impact of everyone, stars included.
The best way to do this thing is to once again look at the back-to-backs. Luckily, the NBA made it easy on us this week. Charlotte is the only team that has a back-to-back on Thursday and Friday, while Atlanta is the only team that has a Saturday-Sunday back-to-back.
In Charlotte, old friend Jusuf Nurkic may end up being an excellent option for the rest of the season. Moussa Diabate exited on Tuesday with what Charlotte is calling a knee injury that has him listed as questionable to play on Thursday. Knowing how the Hornets report injuries, the current severity is unclear, and he could miss multiple games. On top of that, we know Mark Williams will miss one night of Charlotte’s back-to-back. Though he was ran out of Phoenix, we know that Nurkic can still be a productive fantasy option when he gets the opportunity. He has made four starts for the Hornets so far and averaged 10.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, four assists, 1.5 steals and one block per game.
The other Hornets are all dart throws that are dependent on the availability of LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges, though both sat out against Atlanta on Tuesday. Damion Baugh, DaQuan Jeffries, Wendell Moore Jr. and Nick Smith Jr. are all players to consider, but they all feel risky.
Things are more straightforward in Atlanta. They’re fighting for seeding in the East instead of lottery odds, so players will only miss games if they truly aren’t healthy. Rookie of the Year candidate Zaccharie Risacher and Caris LeVert are the two most reliable streaming options on the team. Risacher has scored at least 15 points in three consecutive games and put up a 21/8/2 line with five three-pointers on Tuesday. Their matchup with Golden State on Saturday isn’t an easy one, but playing against the 76ers on Sunday should open the door for some strong production. LeVert has been better than Risacher, but he has missed Atlanta’s last two games with right knee soreness. If he is able to play, he should be productive, though it isn’t a guarantee that he plays both nights of the back-to-back.
The light days this week on Thursday and Saturday, with only five games on each day. The Nets, Bulls, Warriors, Pacers, Lakers, Bucks, Knicks and Kings play both days. Tre Jones, Kevin Huerter, and Jordan Goodwin are options to consider for those days.
