He could breakout this season - NBA Fantasy Basketball
Potential Fantasy Breakout - Cam Whitmore
Cam Whitmore:
Cam Whitmore was traded to the Wizards yesterday after working with the Rockets to find his next team. Last season, Whitmore had limited playing opportunities due to the overall depth of Houston's roster. Unfortunately for Cam, the sheer amount of current depth Houston has at the wing (after acquiring Durant and Finney-Smith) would have made it hard for Whitmore to carve out a role in this upcoming season. This move to Washington will give Whitmore fantasy breakout potential as he’s a high-motor wing with three-and-D capabilities. In limited playing time, Cam made the most of his minutes, showcasing his abilities when playing over 25 minutes a night (see stats below). While it’s a small sample size (8 games), Whitmore did enough to impress Washington, who gladly traded two second-round picks for him. While the Wizards have potential competition for Cam at the wing (Coulibaly and Middleton), this will be a much better situation where he’ll at least be given a consistent workload. With Middleton in the last year of his contract, Whitmore has a good chance of usurping him in the pecking order by the end of the season, which is why he could be a valuable long-term asset for fantasy.
Notes:
-Whitmore’s Stats in the 2024-25 season: 9.4 PPG, 3 RPG, 1 SPG, 44/36/75 splits, 15.9 FPPG
-Whitemore’s Stats in the 2024-25 season (in games with 25+ minutes): 19.8 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 1 SPG, 46/41/75 splits, 34.1 FPPG
Is Whitmore destined for a breakout season?
